Da Ban waterfall might not be as well-known and crowded as Tranh waterfall mentioned below, but it is famous for the diversified flora and fauna. Located in Phu Quoc, it is one of prettiest sites to visit on the island.
Da Ban waterfall consists of a series of flat stone slabs lyng in series and makes for a perfect spot for a picnic. The waterfall itself is quite small and not as nice as the Tranh Stream waterfall, however the draw here is the wooden suspension bridge and the fact that there are not a lot of tourists and it iss located relatively close to Duong Dong town making it an easy day trip. The hiking up the stream to the waterfall site is relatively easy and safe as there is a clear path on the side.
Da Ban waterfall is located 6km north east of Duong Dong Town. From Duong Dong Town head down Nguyen Trung Truc Street toward Thom Village or Ganh Dau Village and the turn right to the Duong To Village. You will then reach a dirt road that will take you into Da Ban. This road can be muddy at timesand it has a lot of potholes. Traveling down this dirt road for 4kms will take you to the parking area.
What to see
– Observe the Flora and Fauna: a variety of animal and plant life can be seen here. Look for small ish in the stream, frogs, lizards, snakes, and more. Wild orchids, mushrooms, wild gindseng and ferns are some of the flora that can b seen here. You can even find the sim myrtle fruit here as well.
– Suspension Bridge: the wooden suspension bridge is nice to walk on. If you are not adventurous then you can take another more stable wooden bridge just a few stop away.
What to do
Soak in the stream: There are a few deep pools that are perfect for cooling down.
Picnic: the mooth flat rocks make a perfect natural table top. Bring your lunch and sit on top of one of these rocks and have your lunch. You will see many locals diong the same.
For the falls, the best months to visit are between May and September – by the end of the dry season there’s little more than a trickle.
We strongly recommend, not to waste your time at this place and instead to check out:
- Painting Stream, a picturesque landscape park that is popular among tourists and locals alike. You can sit in the water and have the waterfall massage your back.
- Or Fairy Stream, which is harder to find, but natural and picturesque. A perfect place to lay back and enjoy the low mumbling of the stream while you watch the clouds
